All the cards on the table, a sense of vulnerability. The willingness to be vulnerable to each other. This is how life in a community should be, but most importantly, how friendship should be. I was thinking about this a lot recently. The feeling of laying all the cards on the table, really having an 'all out'. Being willing to be vulnerability takes courage and a leap of faith. The thing about vulnerability goes two ways. Those whom you are vulnerable to who don't make you feel worried about the vulnerability, those who are willing to be vulnerable to you in return.
There are also those whom you are vulnerable to who are not vulnerable to you at all. What happens then? Friendship and relationships are based on and built upon vulnerabilities, but it is a fact that being vulnerable is not fun and many, even those whom we profess to be close to are unwilling to take that leap of faith.
Someone shared recently with me that a problem shared is a problem halved. First steps toward healing.
